OK, I am not dedicating this blog on Online IDEs but since my last post, I received an email from someone at CodeRun that their Online IDE supports IntelliSense. The email came from someone’s Gmail account therefore I can’t say that it was truly from someone at CodeRun but the email signature was saying so.
Because of the browser limitation you need to hit CTR + SPACE to see the list of available methods and properties (I have not verified that.). If someone may be wondering what is IntelliSense please read Wikipedia article.
One of the very few reasons that I always want my computer with me almost all the time because you don’t get your Integrated Development Environment (IDE) in someone else’s computer if I need to write a small peace of code. What if you automatically get an IDE on every computer that is connected to the internet, it sounds like brilliant idea.
Today while looking for an example of some code on CodeProject.com, I came across some information about an Online IDE by CodeRun.com. CodeRun have taken first step to convert the dream of hundreds of thousands developers into the reality. They have developed (most probably) the first ever browser based “partial” IDE. I call it “partial” because it doesn’t have many features of Smart IDE like intellisense but it has most of the very important features of developing a software like Compiling, Running, Debugging the application plus the color coding of the source code. In simple words, it is workable for sometime but it is not the replacement of Visual Studio or Eclipse.

CodeRun.com online IDE supports .NET and PHP development. I would write another post after playing more with it.
Yesterday I was writing that I use different services from different companies while comparing Skype and Google Voice. Today Yahoo! released the latest version of Yahoo! Homepage for U.S. users and I was very happy to see that Yahoo! understands that people want every good service not just Yahoo! services. Yahoo! converted is homepage into the application platform of other popular services including Facebook, eBay, Gmail and many others.
Users can now personalize Yahoo.com to check other sites, including Facebook and Gmail, as well as add Web widgets that link to more than 65 other sites.

I have not checked how much you can do while staying on Yahoo! homepage but my understanding is that you can check your email of your Gmail / AOL / Windows Live inbox, manager Facebook and MySpace profile, place a bid on eBay, see your job posting on HotJobs and so on.

Yahoo! marketplace section on homepage which was on Yahoo’s homepage since its earliest versions is gone for good.
I usually see people saying that I am the great fan of Google / Yahoo! / Microsoft. As a Software Engineer, my approach is different from people who fall in love with Company rather than their services. I don’t use all service from one company unless their is one company providing everything perfect which sounds like near to impossible. I like Google’s Gmail but with Microsoft’s Outlook, Yahoo!’s Answers, Microsoft and Google’s search engines on Mozilla’s Firefox browser, Apple’s iPod Touch but Andriod powered phone, Microsoft Bing’s Image search but Google’s video search and so on.
Recently I got very excited when I received an invitation to use Google Voice service. I am the VOIP user for last four years and I have also used about 20 VOIP services including VOIP Cheap, Internet Calls, Skype and many. I am also very regular user of Skype for any international call. Anyways, I quickly purchased $10 credit on Google Voice to call one of my friend in UK. My excitement ended as soon as my friend said “what kind of cheap services you are calling through?” and I had to hang-up and call him again using Skype.
I love Google Docs, Google Mail and many other Google services but I would say that Google will have to go long way to compete the Skype. There is surely a reason why Skype is considered as the giant of VOIP just like Google in the Web Search.
The “Windows XP Mode” in “Windows 7” which uses “Windows Virtual PC” is amazing. I have used two Virtualization software earlier including VMware Server and Microsoft Virtual PC (which was the previous version of Windows Virtual PC) but Windows Virtual PC is very fast as it feels like you are running the guest operation system (Windows XP) on physical machine rather than on Emulator/Virtualization software.
And it truly feels great when you have two monitors attached to computer and you have Host Operation System (Windows 7) running on one monitor and Guest Operating System (Windows XP) on other.

It depends how many legacy software you have which require Windows XP to run properly and how long you spend on them but running Windows 7 and Windows XP side-by-side in two monitors should increase the productivity when you need latest features of Windows 7 and legacy software running at the same time.
You can also use Windows XP in the regular Windows 7 window as shown in the screenshot below.

OK, I know .. I am posting so many songs on Mahek.net. I just wanted to introduce Imeem.com to anyone who may have not used it before. It is very nice “kind of” internet radio. It has many similar features as in Last.fm but Imeem looks better to me. You can also install the mobile version of Imeem (& last.fm) on iPhone and Andriod powered phones.
I don’t know but some songs are always fresh as you are listening as singer is singing in front of you.
Newer Version on Imeem:
This 60 years old song gives me the feeling as I am listening to the live performance. I don’t know why but this is how much I like this song. Enjoy!!!!
While reading the book “Where Have All The Leaders Gone” by Lee Iacocca, I found really good definition of Globalization that is worth sharing. Lee Iacocca’s another book “Iacocca” is also worth reading at least for those who want to know the true definition of Business.
“My friend, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who knows something about globalization because he’s one of the few people who has seen the whole globe from the moon, sent me this piece that he said was making the rounds of the Internet. It makes the point—vividly:
Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization? Answer: Princess Diana’s death.
Question: How come? Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scotch whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines. This is posted by an American, using Bill Gates’ technology, and you’re probably reading this on a computer that uses Taiwanese chips and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian lorry-drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, and trucked to you by Mexican illegals. That, my friend, is globalization!”
